Easy Ketogenic Diet Meal Ideas – What to Eat on Keto?

When you first start a ketogenic diet, it may feel a bit overwhelming in the early stages for a keto beginner, and this could deter someone from continuing which is terrible as the ketogenic lifestyle is an amazing one. The overall well-being you feel after you're fully fat adapted isn't replaceable with a creme filled donut.

I remember those grocery trips to the store staring aimlessly in the aisles thinking "Where do I begin? EVERYTHING has carbs, right?" but after much research and help from the lovely keto community - yes there's a community for everything, and I love it.

I'm showcasing a bunch of ketogenic diet snacks, ketogenic diet meals that I eat on a daily basis to give you a starting point and there are few special condiments sprinkled in that you may not have known existed. Let's get to it.

Bacon Egg Cups

When you look at the image, the bacon egg cups look difficult to make (says my sister), but they're one of the easiest meals you can make on the ketogenic diet.

You need a muffin tin seeing as how those are collecting dust (until I come up with a ketogenic blueberry muffin recipe) they will be the starting point for the easy bacon egg cup recipe.

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Grease muffin tin
  • Wrap the inside of muffin tin with two strips of uncooked bacon (I sometimes use precooked bacon when in a hurry, so when using precooked do the bacon and egg step together)
  • Cook bacon for a couple of minutes to give it a head start since the egg cooks quickly
  • Remove muffin tray from oven
  • Carefully crack one egg into each bacon-rimmed muffin hole making certain you don't break the yolk.
  • Cook 10-15 minutes eyeballing it - adjust the time to your egg loving preference - I like yolk!
  • Using a fork carefully remove the bacon egg cups from the tin and wallah!

Breyer's Carb Smart Fudge Bar

You wouldn't believe the excited that I had come over me in the frozen dessert aisle when I discovered these babies, doing the Carlton dance is an understatement. They have that consistency of a wendy's frosty and doesn't taste like diet ice cream - knowing how good it tasted I made sure to pee on my keto stix the next few days to see if I got kicked out of ketosis - thankfully I didn't and the Breyer's carb smart ice cream has a permanent space in my freezer for special nights when an Ice cream is needed. Not pictured is Halo Top Ice cream, that Ice cream is my favorite, I did a Youtube review on that Ice cream but make sure to fast forward to the 9-minute mark to avoid all the unnecessary rambling I did and the other product reviews.

Breyer's Carb Smart Nutritional Information

  • 70-cals
  • 11g carbohydrate - 1g fiber - 5g sugar alcohols = 5g net carbs ( for the occasional treat as it uses Splenda and I rather eat stevia raw)
  • 3g sugar

Atkins Meal Bars

When you don't have time for a sit-down meal or haven't done any keto meal prepping for the week these Atkins meal bars are my lifesaver. I have an assorted variety in my freezer ( I love to eat them frozen - it takes longer to eat 🙂 ) and the one pictured is my ultimate go-to favorite. It's their new raspberry chia bar and it tastes better than it looks - even though it looks pretty darn tasty. Below are the Atkins meal bar nutritional facts for the flavor pictured.

Atkins Meal Bar Raspberry Chia Nutritional Facts

  • 180-cals
  • 7g fat
  • 130g potassium
  • 5g saturated fat
  • 220mg sodium
  • 19g carbohydrate - 13g fiber - 3g glycerin = 3g net carbs and it's filling!

Do look out for when these Atkin meal bars are on sale because they're on the pricey side.

Deviled Eggs

I actually took this picture on easter morning as it was my deviled eggs for easter treat since I do keto and my family did the chocolate easter eggs. I also ate these deviled eggs with bacon. That whole plate was for me and I didn't care about the deviled egg calories only the carb count, and since deviled eggs have no carbs they're EGGcellent on the ketogenic diet. 🙂

Deviled Egg Recipe

  • Eggs
  • Mayonnaise
  • Mustard
  • Sprinkling of Paprika - Drops the mic.

Low carb Chicken Pot Pie

I made this low carb chicken pot pie with almond flour and I had to buy it off of Amazon since my local stores didn't carry it. Here is the complete step-by-step tutorial I created.

Cheese Crust Pizza

If you don't have the patience to wait for amazon to deliver your carbquick regardless of having two-day delivery with a prime membership, ha, you can make this equally tasty cheese crust pizza - the base is cheese! My tutorial including a video of myself making it is here.

Cream Cheese Pancakes

By far the yummiest cream cheese pancakes recipe ever! I'm a bit biased since I made them but you'll have to see for yourself. Unfortunately, you'll have to see my face again to watch the tutorial or read the process here.

Low Carb Ketchup

Yes! You can have ketchup on the ketogenic diet. You just have to look in BFE to find it - my local store seemed like the last one to get onboard with the reduced sugar ketchup. If your store lives in the boonies or is slow at getting new items there is always amazon for this yummy 1 carb per serving ketchup.

New York Strip and Shrimp

Here is my juicy steak and grilled shrimp with a TINY amount of grilled in butter onions. I made my own homemade low carb cocktail sauce using the 1 carb Heinz reduced sugar ketchup, 1 tsp 1 carb horseradish, and a sprinkle of garlic powder and lemon juice.

This list isn't complete as I will continue to update with more keto food list items. You can follow me on Instagram to see what I eat all day every day in real time, but I must warn you as sometimes I add really cute pictures of my kids and cats on there. 🙂
